Ms. Nathinee Chucherdwatanasak

Nathinee Chucherdwatanasak is a Ph.D. candidate in historical musicology at the University of Michigan. She is interested in post-1945 Western European and American classical music, with an emphasis on how neoliberalism influences the current scene of classical music in the United States. Her secondary research interest is contemporary classical music in Southeast Asia. In her master’s thesis at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, she discusses cross-cultural approaches in the orchestral music of Thai composer, Narong Prangcharoen. Thereafter, she has become interested in more in-depth interdisciplinary understandings of her native region and has completed a Graduate Certificate Program in Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Michigan.

Nathinee Chucherdwatanasak was originally trained as a pianist. She received her bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the College of Music, Mahidol University and her master’s degree in piano performance from Eastern Michigan University.

ณัฐินีกำลังเขียนวิทยานิพนธ์เรื่อง “Creative Destruction, Perpetual Rebirth: Classical Music in the Early Twenty-First Century” ที่ศึกษาความเป็นไปของดนตรีคลาสสิกในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาในช่วงสองทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา วิทยานิพนธ์นี้เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของปริญญาเอกในสาขาดนตรีวิทยา (historical musicology) ของมหาวิทยาลัยมิชิแกน นอกจากนี้ณัฐินียังสนใจเรื่องราวของนักแต่งเพลงในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ได้รับประกาศนียบัตรบัณฑิตด้านภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (Graduate Certificate Program in Southeast Asian Studies) จากมหาวิทยาลัยมิชิแกน และได้เขียนวิทยานิพนธ์ในระดับปริญญาโท สาขาวิชาดนตรีวิทยา ที่มหาวิทยาลัย Missouri-Kansas City ในหัวข้อเกี่ยวกับการผสมผสานวัฒนธรรมต่างสังคม (cross-cultral) ในผลงานเพลงสำหรับออเครสตร้าของ ดร.ณรงค์ ปรางค์เจริญ
