Prof. Nancy Tsui-Ping Wei

Classical Voice Department, College of Music, Mahidol University

Nancy Tsui-Ping Wei is a Taiwanese born American residing in the Kingdom of Thailand. Nancy has been on the Classical Voice faculty at College of Music, Mahidol University since 1995. Teaching and nurturing young vocal talents has since been her aims and passions.

Under Nancy’s studio tutorage, from 2010 to present, her students have been the recipients of the highly respected ASEAN- European Academic University Network (ASEA-Uninet) music scholarships, studying in University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and Graz campus, and University of Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. Among other scholarships received are HRH Princess Galyani Music Scholarships, Thai Government Talent Scholarships, University Scholarships, and Settrade Competition full music scholarships in Thailand.

In the past two decades, her students have been the recipients of the 1st and 2nd prize winners, and the finalists in the international and national vocal competitions, namely Osaka International Music Competition Japan, International Singing Competition of Toulous France, China International Vocal Competition Ningpo China, Berry Alexander International Voice Competition, New York USA, Singapore Lyric Opera Vocal Competition, Singapore, EIMOC International Music Competition, Taiwan, International Opera Singers Competition-Alcamo Italy, and the prestigious Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition in Germany, where her student were awarded full scholarships for the subsequent two-week master classes and final concert in Germany. Since 2007 her students have been the recipients of the 1st Prize, Gold and Silver Medal Awards in Thailand’s well known Settrade Music Competition where the Gold medal winners receive award and a full year scholarship studying at the College of Music, Mahidol University.

Additionally, her students have engaged concerts in Europe, USA, Japan, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia such as Schönbruun Palace Vienna, Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall USA, Kitakyushu Performing Art Center Japan, Kosciuszko Foundation Auditorium New York, USA, Chaktomuk Conference Hall Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Thailand Cultural Center Concert Hall, Abeno Kumin (Ward) Center Grand Hall Osaka, Japan, Prince Mahidol Hall, Thailand, Bertelsmann Stiftung Concert Hall, Germany, and Schubert Concert Hall Vienna, Austria.

As a child, Nancy received numerous awards of singing competitions in Taiwan. She studied at Tainan University of Arts and Technology and later immigrated to USA where she earned her Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees at University of Houston, and George Mason University respectively. Her principal vocal teachers include Chen Li-Shiang, Tsai Shun-Mei, Tzung Dau-Shong, Jean Preston and Charles Hausmann, and her composition teachers include David A. White, and Glenn Smith.

Nancy has been on judging committees for several regional and international vocal and chorus competitions. In April 2011, she was awarded the ASEA-Uninet Austrian-Thai Teacher Exchange scholarships in the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. She is a National Certified Collegiate Faculty by Music Teachers National Association, USA with which she has been a member since 1992. Besides giving voice lessons, Nancy gives master classes, workshops, and vocal training programs.

อาจารย์ Nancy Tsui-Ping Wei เป็นชาวอเมริกันเชื้อสายไต้หวัน ปัจจุบันอาศัยอยู่ในประเทศไทย และได้ดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นอาจารย์ประจำภาควิชาการขับร้องคลาสสิกของวิทยาลัยดุริยางคศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ตั้งแต่ปี 1995 โดยศาสตรจารย์เหว่ยมีความมุ่งมั่นที่จะช่วยส่งเสริมและเป็นแรงผลักดันการพัฒนาทักษะการขับร้องของเยาวชนมาโดยตลอด

ตั้งแต่ปี 2010 จนถึงปัจจุบัน มีนักเรียนภายใต้การอบรมของศาสตรจารย์เหว่ยจำนวนมากได้รับทุนการศึกษา อาทิ ทุนการศึกษาจาก ASEAN- European Academic University Network (ASEA-Uninet) เพื่อศึกษาใน University of Music and Performing Arts ทั้งในกรุงเวียนนาและแคมปัสที่เมือง Graz ตลอดจน University of Mozarteum ใน Salzburg ประเทศออสเตรีย นอกจากนี้แล้ว ยังมีนักเรียนได้รับทุนการศึกษาของสมเด็จพระเจ้าพี่นางเธอ เจ้าฟ้ากัลยาณิวัฒนา กรมหลวงนราธิวาสราชนครินทร์ ทุนการศึกษาจากรัฐบาลไทย ทุนการศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัยต่าง ๆ และทุนการศึกษาจากการประกวดเยาวชนดนตรีแห่งประเทศไทยของเซ็ทเทรด อีกด้วย

ตลอดช่วงสองทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา นักเรียนของอาจารย์เหว่ยจำนวนมากยังได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศและรองชนะเลิศจากการแข่งขันขับร้องหลายเวที อาทิ Osaka International Music Competition ประเทศญี่ปุ่น International Singing Competition of Toulous ประเทศฝรั่งเศส China International Vocal Competition Ningpo ประเทศจีน Berry Alexander International Voice Competition ในกรุงนิวยอร์ค สหรัฐอเมริกา Singapore Lyric Opera Vocal Competition ประเทศสิงคโปร์ EIMOC International Music Competition ของไต้หวัน International Opera Singers Competition-Alcamo ประเทศอิตาลี รวมถึงการแข่งขัน Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition อันมีชื่อเสียงของเยอรมนี โดยนักเรียนผู้ชนะได้รับทุนการศึกษามาสเตอร์คลาสเป็นเวลา 2 สัปดาห์ และได้ร่วมแสดงในงานคอนเสิร์ตในเยอรมนี นอกจากนี้แล้ว ตั้งแต่ปี 2007 เป็นต้นมา นักเรียนหลายคนของอาจารย์เหว่ยยังได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ รวมถึงรางวัลเหรียญทองและเหรียญเงินในการประกวดเยาวชนดนตรีแห่งประเทศไทยของเซ็ทเทรด โดยผู้ชนะได้รับทุนการศึกษาสำหรับเข้าศึกษาใน วิทยาลัยดุริยางคศิลป์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล เป็นเวลา 1 ปี

มีนักเรียนอีกจำนวนมากของอาจารย์ที่ได้เข้าร่วมแสดงคอนเสิร์ตในยุโรป สหรัฐอเมริกา ญี่ปุ่น ไต้หวัน และประเทศอื่น ๆ ในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ อาทิ ที่ Schönbruun Palace กรุงเวียนนา ที่ Weill Recital Hall และ Carnegie Hall ในสหรัฐอเมริกา Kitakyushu Performing Art Center ประเทศญี่ปุ่น Kosciuszko Foundation Auditorium ในกรุงนิวยอร์ค สหรัฐอเมริกา Chaktomuk Conference Hall ในกรุงพนมเปญ ประเทศกัมพูชา หอประชุมศูนย์วัฒนธรรมแห่งประเทศไทย Abeno Kumin (Ward) Center Grand Hall ในเมืองโอซาก้า ประเทศญี่ปุ่น หอประชุมมหิดลสิทธาคาร ประเทศไทย Bertelsmann Stiftung Concert Hall ประเทศเยอรมนี และ Schubert Concert Hall ในกรุงเวียนนา ประเทศออสเตรีย

ในวัยเยาว์อาจารย์เหว่ยเคยได้รับรางวัลจากเวทีแข่งขันการขับร้องหลายแห่งในไต้หวัน ได้ศึกษาที่ Tainan University of Arts and Technology และจากนั้นได้ย้ายถิ่นฐานไปยังสหรัฐอเมริกา และจบการศึกษา Bachelor of Music จาก University of Houston และ Master of Arts จาก George Mason University โดยหลัก ๆ ศึกษาการขับร้องกับอาจารย์ Chen Li-Shiang, Tsai Shun-Mei, Tzung Dau-Shong, Jean Preston และ Charles Hausmann และวิชาการประพันธ์จาก อาจารย์ David A. White และ Glenn Smith

อาจารย์เหว่ยยังได้ดำรงตำแหน่งเป็นกรรมการตัดสินการแข่งขันการขับร้องและวงประสานเสียงทั้งในระดับภูมิภาคและระดับนานาชาติ และในเดือนเมษายน 2011 ได้รับทุนแลกเปลี่ยน ASEA-Uninet Austrian-Thai Teacher Exchange จาก University of Music and Performing Arts ที่กรุงเวียนนา ประเทศออสเตรีย อาจารย์เหว่ยยังมีตำแหน่งเป็น National Certified Collegiate Faculty จาก Music Teachers National Association สหรัฐอเมริกา ซึ่งอาจารย์ได้เป็นสมาชิกของสมาพันธ์นี้มาตั้งแต่ปี 1992 ในปัจจุบันนอกจากจะสอนวิชาขับร้องให้แก่นักเรียน อาจารย์เหว่ยยังมีการจัดมาสเตอร์คลาส เวิร์คชอป และโครงการการเรียนการขับร้องต่าง ๆ อย่างสม่ำเสมอ
